Hi I'm Joshua Goates

I was born in South Jordan, UT, but was raised in a small town in central Utah called Levan. I love learning and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was home schooled till high school. I'm an eagle scout. I've just finished my first semester at Snow College. Ever since I was a kid, I've always been making stuff, and as I've gotten older I've refined it into creating prop replicas and models from popular movies and TV shows, and by doing this I've learned how to fix a lot of things that require thinking outside the box. I love to learn about the world around me. Music has always been a big part of my life. Since I love to learn, I've learned how to play just about every instrument I can get my hands on, including the tuba and the accordion. I enjoy making people happy and because of that, I've learned how to ride the unicycle. My philosophy is that if you decide you want to do something, and put your mind to it, you can do anything.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are both Mormons, so I was born into the influence of the church. I was baptized a member when I was eight years old. I've only recently moved out of my parents house, so I've had to rely on my own testimony of Christ. As I've studied the scriptures and prayed about what I've read, my testimony has grown further than it ever has before. I know that this church is true, and it brings me great peace to know that God lives and he loves me. Being a Mormon has made me a better person than I could ever be otherwise.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving as the pianist for the priesthood men in my ward when we gather. I also try to treat others as God wants me to at all times. I'm constantly trying to be more like Jesus, and although I'm not perfect, it's brought me and others blessings. In the near future I'm going to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Florida teaching the gospel.
