Hi I'm Emeli!

I have lived in San Diego for pretty much my entire life, I am a freshman in high school (home school style:), and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I Love love love to sing and play the guitar, writing songs gives me the most amount of freedom i feel a freshman can get, because I can sing about what I want, feel, and believe, and no one can tell me it's not right. Well they can, but I have zero obligation to care if they aren't going to be nice. Singing and writing songs with my friends and family is when I am at my happiest, music means so much to me, and having people that care about it with me just makes my day. I have been singing for a while, i don't want to be one of those people who claim to be singing since they were two, because come on, you couldn't even form logical sentences on your own, so I've been singing for.... a while. since i can remember. I started playing the guitar in 2010, and i love my tiny acoustic guitar:) and my electric and uke:D Art is one of my favorite pass times, especially sketching, Painting, card making, prisma coloring, and pretty much anything that makes a mess! Playing basketball IS. SO. MUCH. FUN! I loooove to run around with my dad or my friends to play some one on one, laughing uncontrollably, having fun just living life. Eating healthy and exercising is what keeps me feeling good. last but not least, baking. Nothing is better than chocolate in general, but making chocolate cookies and cake and anything chocolate is my way of doing service for others! I also have a beautiful older sister who means so much to me. She is my best friend, and i can't imagine life without her.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints means so much to me. I know that the only way to be truly happy is to be a member of this church, following its commandments and living life with an eternal perspective. There are some tough trials in everyone's lives, and I have no idea how I could ever feel peace amongst my sorrow if I didn't know there was a plan for me, that this isn't all there is, that I have a Heavenly Father watching over me and picking me up when I fall. I've often wondered why bad things happen to good people, but I didn't realize until recently that it is the bad things that bring out the good in people. The bad stuff makes us better, stronger, and more determined to be good. The bad stuff as in our trials. We have every trial for a reason, it wasn't just random chance. We aren't given more than we can handle, we can overcome darkness so we can shine brighter when it's over. Heavenly Father is simply knocking off our rough edges and making us the best person we can possibly be. And Heavenly Father doesn't make mistakes. You can either run to God or away from him when life gets turned upside down. I speak from experience when I say that having someone to talk to, someone who knows you and what you are feeling is one of the best things you can possibly have when you don't feel like you can take another step on another bad day. I know that Heavenly Father is there, he has answered every single one of my prayers since i was little. I've seen his hand in my life, I've witnessed his miracles, I know he loves me, and I know this is the only true church. I am proud to call myself a Mormon, and I can't wait to see what Heavenly Father has in store for the rest of my life.

How I live my faith

I enjoy getting up for seminary every morning at 5:00, going to mutual, going to temple baptisms, going to church each week, and reading my scriptures. I'm trying to get into the habit of reading them nightly so I can be sure to understand the history of our church and know why I live the lifestyle and standards I live. Babysitting and serving is a joy of mine, seeing others happy and on the right path helps my testimony grow, and it makes Heavenly Father happy more than anything to see his children happy. Uplifting music is a biggie for me. Music has the power to completely steal away or give the spirit to yourself, and the room you are in. Liston carefully to the words and the meaning behind each song, it is so easy for satin to trip us up with those catchy beats. I've seen what just the influence of music can do change a person's thoughts and actions daily, so I try my best to Liston to the happy and spiritual stuff so i will not become desensitized to the spirit. I need to be listening carefully for his still small voice to guide me everyday! My testimony is nowhere near perfect, but I am trying my hardest to build it from the ground up, and I have to remind myself that I can't get a perfect testimony over night. Talking with Heavenly Father and attending church activities reminds me why I love this church so much. strengthening, encouraging talks are just what I need to keep myself on the right path.
