Hi I'm Kathy

I'm 55 years old. I'm happy, I love life, and I've had MS for 33 years. Jesus helps me every single day. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Before getting MS, I loved dancing and was an avid skier and hiker. Now I'm in a wheelchair much of the time. It's hard and it's painful, and I've had to give up many things I love doing. Knowing what Jesus suffered for me, and how well He bore it, helps me bear my challenges better. My husband and I have been blessed with five children, and I feel very fortunate that before my legs gave out on me - I was able to teach all five of them to ski! We love camping, jeeping, traveling, and I'm very thankful I'm still able to do those with their help. I especially love going to church and to the temple with them. Families are forever, and I hope to always live worthy of that great blessing.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I need Jesus in my life every day! I know that He is the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and that He leads it and directs it today through His modern day prophets and apostles. My testimony of this has grown so strong in the difficulties I've had. My relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have also grown so strong, and I feel Their love for me, and I feel Them helping me. I want to do everything I can to stay close to Them! The Church gives me the wonderful opportunity to take the sacrament each week. This is a very sacred time for me as I think about Jesus's life, His teachings, and His Atonement. During this time, I make the same promises to Them that I made when I got baptized. I also pray for forgiveness for mistakes I've made and commit to be better, and remember the many ways Jesus has touched my life. I'm very thankful for this wonderful opportunity to take the sacrament each Sunday! As I prepare for it all week long, I find the courage to get through the challenges associated with MS, as well as all the many other challenges that come with this mortal life. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus love us all, and that They want to help us, and I'm so thankful for all the love and help They've given me.

How I live my faith

Praying, singing songs about Heavenly Father and Jesus, reading the scriptures, and going to church each week help me get through my challenges in a positive way. I also try to keep all of Heavenly Father's commandments, and I try to find ways to help other people - even though it's only possible for me to do it in very small ways now. Because of Jesus's great sacrifice for us, my life has great meaning and I will be able to live once again with Him, Heavenly Father, and my family - for all eternity!
