Hi I'm Spencer Cheney

I grew up in Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. I'm an Eagle Scout. I love playing guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I going to be serving my mission in Birmingham Alabama and I'll be leaving June 24. I love music. I play guitar all the time. Currently I'm a member of the High School's choir rhythm section. I play bass guitar in the rhythm section. I am a straight A student. Grades have always been important to me and it has payed off now that I can go attend BYU-I once I come home from my mission. I am and Eagle Scout. I have been active in the scouting program since I was a Deacon and it was always a goal to become an Eagle Scout, I am so glad I am one now.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm am Mormon because I know that God loves us. I know that God loves each and everyone of his children on this Earth, and he shows that love by blessing us when we do what's right. I have felt that love and those blessings as I serve him and do what's right. I know that no matter what I do God will always love me and want me to repent and become better, and once I repent he will always welcome me back with big loving arms. God's love is real and I have felt it, that's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the first assistant to the bishop, which means I'm the leader of the boys ages 16-18. In my calling I am often volunteering, in church and in my community. I will go give the sacrament to and visit the people at the nursing homes in our town to make sure they're doing alright. I spend a lot of time with the bishop discussing how to help the high school kids in our ward. I help the high school aged boys become and stay more active in serving our ward and our community such as by helping people move, visit the nursing homes, and being an example for the younger boys.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Spencer Cheney
Because he is the head of our church, Jesus Christ calls and appoints the prophets that we have today. The prophets then picks, with the help of God, counselors to make up the First Presidency of the Church and the Twelve Apostles. These men give the direction the church needs. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Spencer Cheney
We have prophets today just like the ones in the Bible and Book of Mormon. Thomas S. Monson is the current prophet God has chosen today. We will always need help from God and prophets give us the guidance and help that we need, just like Moses in the Bible. Show more Show less
