Hi I'm Ivan the River King

I grew up a farm boy turned professor, husband and father. I hope to play basketball in heaven.

About Me

I like to garden, eat the produce, give a splendid lecture and meet with student anxious to learn. I like working in the yard, playing most any kind of ball with my sons or grandsons, and dancing with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a second generation American family. My grandfather and grandmother joined the Mormon Church and immigrated to the United States. My parents each served as Mormon Church missionaries. So I grew up as a Mormon boy. But there came a time in my life as a 15 year old teenager when I realized I that I was just going through the motions of being a Mormon. I set out to learn for myself the truth by reading the Bible, the Book of Mormon and taking my prayers seriously. I gained a personal testimony early on then and that process has continued to sustain me through the many trails and opportunities of life.

How I live my faith

I enjoy working with youth, especially young men and fathers helping them better understand who they are, their great worth and the value of serving others as they press forward with life challenges. Music is meaningful to me, so I sing in the Church choir.
