Hi I'm Teril

I have lived in Arizona, Canada, Utah, California and Missouri and soon Mozambique, Africa. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my second husband. Between us, we have 11 children and 27 grandchildren. I love to take grandchildren outdoors and work in the garden, or walk a trail, or play miniature golf. I am a teacher of special needs students and have taught ages from 18 months to adults. I love music and play several instruments, teach piano, and sing. I love people and look forward to meeting the people of Mozambique.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have been an inspiration to me. My Dad came home from the military with questions that had long been unanswered. When he came home, his mother and brothers were hearing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He asked them these perplexing questions that no one had been able to answer for all his life, "Why am I here? WHat is the purpose of Life? WHere am I going? Is there life after death?" When the missionaries gave him the answers, he knew in his heart they were telling him the truth. He had found the answers at last. I wanted to know for myself that the church is true, just as my dad had. When I was 14, my seminary teacher challenged me to read the Book of Mormon. Although I had read parts of it all my life, I had never read the whole thing cover to cover. I started in. WHen I came to the story of the Brother of Jared, I could feel myself right there walking beside him. I knew the church was true. The Holy Ghost witnessed to me and I knew. Since then, I have continued to study the scriptures and my testimony has grown stronger and stronger. I especially love the atonement. The more I learn about the great miracle of the Atonement, the closer I feel to my Heavenly Father. I have so much more to learn and am looking forward to the learning. I know Our Heavenly Father loves you just like he loves me. If you really seek Him, He will answer you just like He did me and my dad. The promise is in Moroni 10: 3-5. Take the challenge. You can know too.

How I live my faith

I am teaching Sunday School class for the 12 year olds. We have adopted a trail in our community and keep the erosion down and the greenery out of the trail. I enjoy visiting my ladies. In my church, I have been assigned 4 ladies to keep up with. I check with them for any needs they have. They know I love them and will ask me to help them if there is a need. I also play the organ for the congregation at church each Sunday.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift to me. I know the fall of Adam and Eve was necessary for us to grow and have agency to become what we will become. Because of the fall, we were cast out of Father's presence and cannot return to him unless we are perfect. However, we cannot be perfected without an atonement. This is why the atonement was given, so that we can be perfected to return to our Heavenly Father. That gift has been given to all of us. We can all have salvation because of the atonement. The question is, will we want to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ? Are we preparing ourselves to accept this gift given to us? Will we recognize this as a gift or will we throw it away unable to see it as a blessing, or a gift. I strive to know my God, to be like him, to be comfortable in His presence, to want to be with Him. I realize that no matter how hard I try, I cannot be perfected to have all these desires without the Atonement. I am so grateful for this wonderful blessing. I cannot understand what pains He had to bear or how the ransom was paid exactly. I just know that I can apply His atonement to me if I really want it. I show I really want it by being obedient to the Laws and Ordinances of the Gospel. He wants us to return to Him. I want to return to Him. This is only possible through His loving Atonement. I am so grateful for this great blessing. In the Name of Jesus Christ Amen. Show more Show less
