Hi I'm Josh Powell

My name is Josh Powell. I was raised in Las Vegas. I am an Eagle Scout, a state champion public speaker, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing sports such as basketball and golf. I was on my high school golf team and also was a recipient of my school's student athlete award. I will be attending college at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I received my Eagle Scout award in 2013. I also was on my high school's speech and debate team when we won the state championship.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I never followed the example of Jesus Christ as closely as I should have. I was never planning on staying active in the church; however, I was in a major car accident when I was a sophomore in high school. I could feel the love my Heavenly Father had for me at the moments I needed him the most. He gave me comfort when I stood in need of comfort and gave me peace when I was distraught. God knew that we would make mistakes while in this mortal life and so He gave us His son, Jesus Christ to atone for the sins of all of us. The knowledge that I can be forgiven of all of my wrong doings and to hopefully one day be found worthy to live with Him again is very sacred to me. I can feel the Savior's love for me as I partake of the wonderful warmth the gospel has to offer. The gospel of Jesus Christ changes and blesses lives. I am so very grateful that I was lucky enough to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from an early age. I know that this is the true church on Earth today. Jesus Christ is resurrected and stands at the head of his church today. God is our loving Heavenly Father who wants us to be happy. The way to true happiness is to follow the example set by His son, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I was President of the early morning Seminary program. We organized various events all focused on building the faith of the youth of our church. I also went to visit multiple families each month. These visits were simply to make sure that these families were happy. Participating in service activities inside and outside my church to promote the happiness and well-being of others around my community is very special to me.
