Hi I'm Loris

"I live in a small community. I like to help others. I like to cross-stitch, cook, & read. I teach Primary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Provo, UT and met and married my husband, Jim, while going to school at BYU. We moved to his home town in Southeast UT and here we raised our six children. They are all married now and have brought 21 grandchildren into our family. They are my joy! My hobbies are to cook, do counted cross-stich pictures on baby afghans for each of the grandchildren, quilt, and read. My husband and I also enjoy riding four wheelers, jeeping, and going on cruises together. We have also worked together to remodel our home to make room for our growing family. Throughout the years I have had callings in the church for almost every position possible, but have spent most of my time teaching the children in Primary. This is a great joy to me. I like to help others in our community. I have been a "Certified Nurses Assistant" and have worked with the elderly in our community through Home Health and at the hospital in the Extended Care Unit. I really enjoyed being "The Lunch Lady" at our small school. We had an average of 18 students while I worked there. I have also greatly enjoyed being a temple worker in the temple. My new adventure is to go with my husband on a mission for the church in the Kirtland, Ohio area for the next two years.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was growing up my family was very active in the church. My father was a Bishop of a college student ward. I always enjoyed going to church with him. I felt loved and soooo grown up going to church with the students. I don't think I realized it then, but I'm sure I was feeling the Spirit of God through the Holy Ghost during those meetings even at that young age. I also loved going to my home ward and learning the gospel with those my own age. Since then I have always tried to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that when I do I am happy and my life is good. His teachings lead us to Heavenly Father and Eternal Life. They give me peace and happiness and direction. I love to read the Book of Mormon and learn from its teachings the way to live, here and now, so that I can go back and live with my Heavenly Father and my elder brother Jesus Christ again. I am happy when I am serving others as Jesus did when he was on the earth. I know that he lives now and that he is guiding this church now. I know that he loves me and I love him.

How I live my faith

My first calling in the church came when I was about 17 years old. I was to teach the 6-8 year old children in Primary about Jesus Christ and prepare them for Baptism. Since then I have had many callings, such as being a visiting teacher to many of the women in our community, a leader or teacher in the women's, young women's, and children's organizations of the church. I also fill in for playing the piano and leading the singing when needed. I often have several of these callings at the same time. I especially like working with the children and music. I love to attend the temple to participate in ordinances for those who have passed on. I also love to be a temple worker in our small temple.
