Hi I'm Jaya

I'm a college freshman. I love to read and all I've ever wanted to do is travel. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of three, with a younger sister and younger brother. I love my family so much and my sister is my best friend! I'm attending Brigham Young University and I love school. I love to read and I think that food is probably one of the best things ever! I've danced for many years; my main focus has been ballet, but I've also done jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, broadway, and almost anything else. I love literature, movies, art, music, science, religion. I basically love everything and I have no idea what I'm going to study or where my life is going to end up!

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, thanks to my parents! I continue to follow Christ's gospel and serve in this church because of the things I have felt. When I participate in church activities, meetings, or when I'm alone doing the things I know should, I feel an amazing love and joy. I have felt God's love for me and Christ's love for me. I've learned of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and recognized everything that has been done for me and I feel so grateful. But mostly, this church makes me a better person. Christ recognizes my imperfections and His church welcomes the changes I make as I slowly improve. I love knowing that I will become kinder, more patient, braver, more holy, more compassionate, wiser, and more like Christ as I continue in this beautiful church.

How I live my faith

I think the most important thing is to love and to serve others. We're all in the same boat and we all need help at some point. Christ was the greatest example of serving and loving people. I try to be observant of the needs of others so I can jump in and help when I need to. I serve on the Compassionate Service committee. Basically our job is just to find out when people need help and then help them. It's the greatest!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Nope! Young men are advised to serve a mission in order to fulfill their duty, but young women are not required to serve. It's optional! I've prayed and learned that for me, it's best that I serve a mission. I'm a little nervous, but I'm so excited to go teach the people of Arizona about my beliefs and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I want to serve in any way that I can and I really hope that I can help as many people as I can! Show more Show less
