Hi I'm Samuel

I grew up in the United States. I play basketball poorly. I like listening to classical music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always enjoyed a good game of chess. Despite my gargantuan lack of athleticism I enjoy playing most sports, except volleyball. I don't like volleyball and I can't explain why because I don't even really know why. I'm a tap dancer and am constantly tapping my foot, most likely PTSD from years of tap lessons. Huge fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and the St. Louis Cardinals. Mediocre Bowler. Film Connoisseur. My doctor says my blood pressure is a little high but I should be fine.

Why I am a Mormon

As humans, we all are mortal and make mistakes seemingly almost constantly. At least I know this to be true in my life. And the peace and the love that Christ's eternal atonement has brought into my life is inexplicable. As a member of the church I have been taught many things. And at the center of all these teachings is always Jesus Christ and his love for us. We might have a lot of commandments to follow as members of the church but again at the center of all of it is always Christ. Maybe we have to forgo many seemingly normal things like coffee or smoking but all these commandments in the end help us lead a happier life that Christ wants for us. He wants us to be happy and return unto him so that we can live forever with our families. And the thought that I can spend forever with the people I love most is something that brings me great joy. I might not be the most eloquent person, but know I mean every word I write here. I love the Lord. I love his gospel. And i know he died on the cross for us and atoned for our sins that we can repent and live him again in the next life. The spirit of the lord is an amazing thing and brings peace and love into my life and I desire to have it always there. The word love seems to be recurring quite often here. But thats what it really is. Christ loves us more than we could possibly know and his love is in everything that is good. I testify that I know this to be the true church of God. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. And I know the Book of Mormon is a true testament of Christ.

How I live my faith

My current calling in the church is ward missionary and is a great precursor in my life for the step I'm about to take, serving as a full time missionary. I have been called to serve a two year mission for the church in the Peru Trujillo South mission. I'm more excited to go and labor among the Peruvians than I can put into words. My faith makes me so unexplainably happy how could I not try and share that with others? I have spent time as president of various quorums and teaching lessons. All efforts have been about promoting faith in Christ and serving others. Serving others is a great way to express your faith but more importantly just showing others that you care about them. As a young man my father woke me up early just about every other Saturday to go and help someone in the ward either move in or move out. The values he taught have helped me grow as a person.
