Hi I'm Haylie Corbett

I am a college graduate looking for my place in the world. I know that I am a child of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the rain but hate the snow! I love curling up on the couch with a book and popcorn. I love cooking and baking but I don't love eating what I bake so I tend to give it to others that I know would love it. I am not sure what I want to do with my life but I am figuring it out one day at a time. If I could I would travel the world. I love experiencing new things and visiting new places. There is so much beauty in the world and I want to see it all. I love to blog even though nobody reads it but two of my friends. It lets me get my thoughts out so that I can always go back and remember.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Latter-day Saint family. I attended church since I was a baby and grew up saying family prayer and reading the scriptures. In high school I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep going to church or if I believed what I was being taught. I continued going to church with my family since that was what was expected of me and started to think more about what I was being taught and if I really believed it to be true. It wasn't until I was in college living on my own that I realized that it was all true and that I really did believe. I looked back in my life and saw how being a member of this church had changed my life and how I was blessed for it. There were times where it was so evident that Heavenly Father's hand was in my life that I recognized it immediately. But there were other times were it was subtle and it didn't realize it until I was looking back. But the one thing that I know for sure is that His hand was always there no matter what. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for me in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. He suffered so that I could be forgiven of my sins and be comforted. His atonement is the greatest gift that I have been given. I know that Christ rose from the dead after three days and broke the bonds of death. Because of him I can live with my Heavenly Father again. I know that my family is eternal. I have been sealed to them for time and all eternity. Even when I leave this life I will be with them in the next. There is no goodbye. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and see the blessings of living the Gospel everyday in my life. I am never alone I know that I have a Heavenly Father and a Savior that are always there for me to turn to.

How I live my faith

I am part of the activities committee for the women I attend church with. I love being able to plan events to bring all of the sisters together so talk and get away from our everyday worries. I try to serve those that I associate with regularly. Whether it is by bringing them food, leaving them a nice note, or just stopping by to say hi. I attend church every Sunday and look forward to it during the week. It is a place where I can leave my worries at the door and come closer to my Savior and Heavenly Father. I always leave church feeling renewed for the next week.
