Hi I'm Matt Lurker

I am serving a mission in West Virginia. I love music and downhill skateboarding. I prefer to smell like pine trees. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now my name is Elder Matthew Lurker. I have lived in Montana, Idaho, and California. I love to be outside doing things like camping, backpacking, making excessively large fires, downhill skateboarding, swimming, and doing stunts. I have spent time working in a restaurant, I've been a DJ, and worked as a painter as well. I love working with my hands, and I can't ever get enough music in my life. The moose is my spirit animal.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because as I have applied the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have found them to be true. Just like every other member of the church, there was a time in my life that I did not know that any part of what was taught in the church was true. But as I had a desire to know, I decided to put it to the test. After reading The Book of Mormon, I prayed to God to know whether or not any of it was true. After receiving a witness from the Holy Spirit that it was in fact the word of God, I had no choice but to act on that knowledge. I have been able to change my life in ways I never thought I ever would. As a result of my conversion, I am now serving a mission in the West Virginia Charleston Mission so that I can go out and help others to gain that same knowledge and to come closer to their Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the way I act. I know that our purpose here on Earth is to become more like Christ, and we do that by doing our best to do the things that He would do. Service to our fellow man is one way that I love to show Christ that I am following Him. Having a greater love and compassion for one another- that is how we can become more like our Savior. No one on Earth is perfect, but we all do our best to put behind us our imperfections and strive to become more like Christ.

Who are the Mormons?

Matt Lurker
Mormons are a bunch of folks who can cook real well and like to eat a lot. They also read from scriptures written by prophets, containing the fullness of the gospel. They do a lot of service, send their best young people out to knock on your door and tell you how to find greater happiness in life, and believe in following the two greatest commandments- That is to love God and love everyone else.
