Hi I'm Orin Duffin

I am a student, a college athlete, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student. I plan on getting a double major in Mandarin and Finance. I played college tennis for Idaho State university. I have been a member all my life and am preparing to serve a mission. I enjoy doing anything outdoors which is quite easy since I have lived in Idaho my whole life. I play the piano and enjoy listening to music and doing things with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have been able to feel God's love for me when I have gone to church, read the scriptures, and prayed. Being a member isn't always easy but it's worth it. I know that I have gained a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father and understand the atonement more though attending church and reading the scriptures. I know that Heavenly Father plays an active role in our lives and if we will look for prompting and act upon them. The church has helped me become a better person and helps me to live a life that is in harmony with what the Savior taught.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. I was the only member on the Idaho State tennis team. This was difficult at times because I was constantly in a setting where my values stood out. However, I soon realized that instead of feeling left out I could try and be example to them of what the church stands for. I try to be kind to those around me and serve others as much as possible. In my college ward I was a teacher. This provided a unique experience for me to become familiar with those in my class and get to know the doctrines of the church better.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Orin Duffin
The atonement is a way that we can be forgiven of our sins. While living on this Earth we will all make mistakes and come short of the glory of God. However, this doesn't mean we can't still return to live with him. Our Father in Heaven has provided a way that we can become clean and that is through the Atonement of Christ. If we rely upon Christ and repent and forsake our sins we can be made clean. Repentance is difficult at times but if we rely on Christ for help we will be able to overcome any challenge in our life.
