Hi I'm Issamar

I'm Dominican. Soon to be a Sister Missionary and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and I moved to the United States when I was 16 so I can say I'm officially bilingual ha! I love everything about my culture even though I used to complain a lot about my country warm weather, Latin dancing is my passion, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata makes me happy as well as my family members and friends, another thing is that.. I ENJOY LAUGHING.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember the Elders teaching us at home when I lived in the DR with my mom and my 2 siblings. I was 10 years old at the time and we all got baptized but my older brother, taking a look back and now my mom has always been so faithful and active in the church, because of her example we are so strong in the gospel. I continued growing in the gospel by attending seminary, young women camp, and going to the temple to do baptisms for the death but not until I went to EFY ( a youth camp program from the church) that I gained my own testimony, I felt in my heart that all these things that I was doing in the church were true so I tried a little harder to become an example for others and share my testimony to others, that desire and a project from the Personal Progress (a young women program) took me to finally read the Book of Mormon and when I was done reading it, I prayed because I wanted to know if this book that I was reading for months is true so I knelt down and ask God with all my heart to let me know the answer and as soon as I got up and sat on my bed to write in the Personal Progress book, I had this feeling overcoming my entire body that I started to cry a lot!! I wrote my testimony while I was crying and I knew the Spirit confirmed to me that it was true, I had this feeling in my heart that I can't deny and if the Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ, Joseph Smith was a prophet and translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God and I know that the Priesthood was restored through him to restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these Latter Days before His second coming.

How I live my faith

I have a calling in the church as the Ward Music Director, I conduct the music every Sunday in my ward, I'm so happy to help my brothers and sisters to feel the Spirit in Sacrament Meeting through the hymns. I recently received my call to serve in the Washington Spokane Mission!! I'm super excited and nervous about it, I'm preparing myself to increase my desires to serve God and His children and to be humble enough to be guided by the Spirit so I know what to teach and say to the people He has prepared to listen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'll do my best to let them know that HE LOVES THEM.
