Hi I'm Cody Dawson

I am currently preparing to serve a mission. I recently received my call to the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have recently graduated from high school, and am now enrolled in a local tech school. I have chosen to pursue an education in Automotive Technology. It has been a very rewarding education, that I have enjoyed receiving thus far. After I complete my training, I will be leaving to serve a mission. I am looking forward for the opportunity to give my service to the church. Besides Auto mechanics, I enjoy playing percussion along with a few other instruments.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the church is true. I was born, with both of my parents members, and consequently grew up as a member. This, however, does not mean that I did not experience my own personal conversion. My belief in the church grew mostly, in high school. As I attended Seminary, and learned of the Gospel in a different setting, I really began to believe that the church was true. I waited continually for a moment of when I knew the church was true, but it never really came. However, now that I look back on what I learned, I can see that I believe in what the church teaches. This is the reason that I continually live the Gospel, and its teachings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith mostly through example. I try to make it a goal to be a positive influence in the lives of others around me. In my home ward, I am a very active participant. I make it a goal to regularly attend all of my meetings. Outside of church, I also try to represent the church well. I attend a religious class for college students. It is called Institute. In the class, we study the Book of Mormon. This makes it easier for me to live the gospel, because I have a constant reminder of who I am representing and what I believe in. It also provides a deeper knowledge of doctrinal topics that are foreign to me. All of these actions contribute to my goal of continually working towards being a better member of the church, and a better person in general. Representing Christ well is my goal as a member of the church.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Cody Dawson
Although missionary service is not required in the church, I feel as though it is a very beneficial experience for both the missionary, and the people he/she serves. I made the decision to serve a mission because of the importance. As a male, I have been directed that "every worthy, able young man should prepare to serve a mission." I have followed this direction by making a mission a priority in my life. As I prepare for my service I more deeply recognize its importance. Although it is not required, I feel as though two years of service is a small price to pay for the blessings of the service given. Show more Show less
