Hi I'm Mary Stratford

I grew up in Salt Lake City, I am a student and love to learn as I study to become a teacher, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 19 years old and have attended my first full year at a university. Although I'm just barely getting started, I love every minute of it, and have really always loved school. My favorite thing to study is literature; I LOVE to read and analyze classic literature because I think it has so much to teach about life and humanity. I hope one day to be a high school English teacher, and share that love of literature with students. I'm also a big nerd, too! I think there's a lot to be learned out there in the world, and a lot of goodness to find. For me, personally, I love to find the good in movies, as well as other uplifting things. I love watching Doctor Who, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and lots of reading! I'm also a HUGE Disney fan!!! I love watching Disney movies and feeling happy about courage, love, and kindness!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in hope, and the church is one way that I can easily see that hope. Through everything life offers, the pains, fears, and stress, as well as the optimistic events, having faith in and of Jesus Christ makes every moment worthwhile, beautiful, and lovely. The church teaches about love, joy, peace, hope, courage, strength, charity, kindness, and much more. To me, I could not live without these in my life. The church is the foundation for my values, and I love the strength the Savior gives in our constant progression through life. I know that I don't have to be perfect, but that God wants me to try my best, and be all that I can be. I represent Him, and in doing so I can be an example of these values to those with which I interact. I love the message of family the church gives- that families can be forever, through all time and eternity and that they are to be a constant strength and support system. I believe in optimism and I believe in hope, and because of these things, I have chosen to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is an ongoing commitment to serve Him. In addition to service in the church, I constantly strive to be kind, be charitable, be respectful and honorable to those around me. In doing so, I bring myself and others closer to Christ, and I hope I bring those around me closer to Him. Currently, in my church community, I teach the gospel to the four-year-olds in Sunday school. I love to teach them and see how their eyes sparkle when they feel happy about Christ.
