Hi I'm Susan Robb

I am a mother of 4 beautiful daughters, a grandmother of 13 fantastic grandchildren and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I lived the first 39 years of my life in Salt Lake City where I attended high school and the University of Utah, receiving my BA in English. I love snow and water skiing and spent most Saturdays with my family either on the lake or the ski slopes. I married my sweetheart in 1967 and graduated from the U of U a year and a half later. I taught middle school for two years before we began our family and realized that I LOVE teaching and teenagers! We raised our 4 daughters for 16 years in the Holladay area and then began moving around the country for my husband's job. We lived in Houston for 5 years- where the people were friendly and wonderful and the humidity was awful for a Utah-born girl. We then moved to Ann Arbor, MI where my husband worked at the U of M. Forever friends were discovered in both locations. Our next move took us to Carlsbad, CA - weather heaven. After 51/2 years we moved back to Texas, this time to Dallas, where we lived very happily until my husband retired in 2013 and we returned to our roots and family in UT after 25 wonderful years. It is good to be "home" and yet we deeply miss the friends-turned-family we have in all our previous locations.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can't imagine my life any other way. I was born in the church and raised by righteous parents in a very loving family - a blessing I am beginning to realize is not the norm for much of society. I have been blessed to have wonderful friends from the time I was very young who shared my beliefs and standards and who kept me on solid ground. As my husband and I began moving around the country I realized I had never had my beliefs challenged and that I needed to know more completely WHY I was a Mormon. I discovered I am a Mormon because I believe that God restored His original church to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that the divine authority to act in God's name is once again on the earth through the Holy Priesthood. We have a prophet on earth today just like God's people did anciently, to guide and warn and protect us and I don't want to live without that protection. I want to have my family eternally and I believe that can happen if I live up to the promises and covenants I have made with God. I am grateful for my heritage, my testimony and my faith.

How I live my faith

My favorite assignment (calling) in our church has been to teach early-morning-seminary in both Carlsbad and Frisco, TX for a combined 9+ years. The high school youth arise very early (6:00 am) and attend a 50 minute religion class before starting their school day. They are amazing, bright, wonderful, funny and inspiring and I learned so much from my early morning discussions with them. My husband and I currently are teaching a New Testament class at the University of Utah Institute of Religion and, again, I love interacting with these amazing young adults. They are so committed to living as Jesus Christ has asked us to live and I am uplifted each time I am with them.
