Hi I'm Joe

I'm a husband, father, and an engineer. I love my family, math, ping pong (and astronomy and outdoors and ...). I'm a Mormon.

About Me

We live in a house in the woods with our wild children, dog, three cats, five neighbors' dogs, five fish, four frogs, a rabbit, twelve toads, three hummingbirds, chipmunks, squirrels, and skinks. Most of them live outside. By day I play ping pong and write computer code. By night I'm corralling children with my sweet wife. I spent many years in school studying math and computer science. I love to learn. Math problems are fun when I have time. I like to teach just about anything. It's fun to help others learn, too.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I didn't believe in God, even though I grew up in the church. I made a lot of the wrong choices. The hard consequences of those choices led me to face my unbelief, and I found that I have a Father in Heaven that cares about me. He helped me find others who could help, and through Jesus Christ I began to find peace. Life has taken me through many unexpected and difficult turns, but all along I have seen God teaching me and helping me grow. I know that Joseph Smith restored the truth that was lost so many centuries ago. He truly saw and spoke with God the Father and Jesus Christ. I know that God lives and loves us all. Jesus Christ suffered and died to give us all the opportunity to repent, find forgiveness, and live joyful lives of meaning and purpose. I look forward to the day when all will know Jesus Christ and peace will reign on earth.

How I live my faith

Home teaching is one of the things I enjoy most in the church. My son and I get to visit other families and help out where we can. For the past few years I have served as Bishop of our congregation. It's a challenge to fit it all in (with a job and a big family), but I love to share the faith of fellow members and see peace come into the lives of those who are struggling in darkness.
