Hi I'm David

Husband, father of all girls, cancer survivor, horticulturist, gardener, tinkerer and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am first a husband to an awesome wife and father of 4 wonderful daughters. I grew up in a small town and was taught how to work hard and serve other people. I love to be outdoors, in the mountains or deserts although I don't have as much time as I would like to do it. Growing up we spent a lot of time exploring new places and seeing sights and beauties of the wonderful world we live in. I studied Biology and got a degree in Biology and Secondary Education and taught High School and Jr. High science for 5 years. I loved to see a kid light up when they understood something new. I completed a masters degree and changed careers and now I work for a large water provider. I am responsible for public education and outreach related to water resources and water conservation. At an early age I went through a cancer scare resulting in surgery, 7 months of chemotherapy and am happy to still be here to tell others about that learning experience that changed my life and how I see the suffering and trials of others. I have a lot of hobbies and like to do a lot of things but don't seem to be that great at any of them, but I sure enjoy doing. The things that matter most to me aren't things at all, but my wonderful girls (this includes my loving and supportive wife).

Why I am a Mormon

I was a Mormon in my youth because my family are all members of the Church. I am a Mormon today because I have pondered many questions, I have looked for answers to those questions in the scriptures and I have knelt many times in prayer to ask my Father in Heaven to help me know what to do or what is true. I feel He has answered those questions and I can say that I know that Christ lives, He has established His truth and that His truth is on the earth today. I can testify that Priesthood authority and power is real and is at work in our time. There are prophets on the earth today. I know these things of the Holy Ghost because I have asked and a loving Father in Heaven has given answers to my questions in His way and in His timing. I am a Mormon because it is only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that all the doctrines and principles and authority of Jesus Christ can be found. The ordinances and the covenants that we need to make with Christ are available to all and found in sacred and holy Temples. The work of God is going forth and I know I am blessed to be a part if it.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as Bishop or my LDS ward. I have served in a lot of callings in my life and have learned a lot, but nothing compared to the joy that comes by witnessing the miracles of the atonement. I have the blessing of seeing the Savior, Jesus Christ heal people in our day. I love working with the youth and seeing their faith grow as they learn doctrines and principles of the plan of happiness. My faith isn't centered on this calling. My faith has been growing since I was young and as I had experiences and saw little miracles all along the way. My faith is centered in knowing that Christ lives, He is the author of our salvation and the center of all I do to exercise faith in Him and to serve others as He would. I fall short often and can't measure up completely, but it is through Christ that I have the hope to keep going and at some point, I will be made perfect through Him. It is such a blessing to be a part of the work of exaltation for all of God's children. We each have a tiny part to play and I try to do my part and hope that it is sufficient to make a difference if only for one, although if I can make a difference for my own family I will have succeeded.
