Hi I'm Ashley Tomkinson

I'm from Alaska. I'm a bad joke teller and I'm called to serve in the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm just a kid trying to make my way in the world. I go to college and work hard during the summer to pay for it. I am the youngest of four siblings and I'm somewhere in the middle of my step siblings. I played volleyball all through middle school and high school. I'm an avid nap taker and I love to read books... which often times one cancels the other.

Why I am a Mormon

You know, I grew up in the Mormon culture. I lived in Idaho up until high school. I had plenty of friends that were all Mormon. When high school stared I moved up to Alaska and the Mormon population was the minority by a long ways. I didn't even get along with the Mormons in my area very well. There were times that I felt like an outsider. But ya know, once I decided that I wasn't going to church to be social but instead to seek out my Father in Heaven, my whole attitude changed. My self-esteem rose and I knew that I was important. I became closer to my parents and I did better in school. I felt better as I became closer to my Heavenly Father and as my faith increased.

How I live my faith

Honestly, the best way I believe I can live my faith is by loving those around me. I'm not really one of those people that naturally gets along with everybody. It's something that I've had to work at really watch myself. If I ever catch myself judging somebody I flip it around as quick as I can and think of a few positive things I've noticed about them and then give them a compliment. It's not usually anything too deep either. A simple "I like your shirt today" works wonders. When somebody tells me they like what I'm wearing, I'm floating on cloud 9 for the rest of the day. I figure if somebody can make my day that easily then why can't I make a stranger's day too? Loving those around me is the best way I can live my faith because Heavenly Father loves each and every one of His sons and daughters. He doesn't make mistakes so who am I too judge His work. When I love His children, I am showing that I love Him as well.
