Hi I'm James

I am currently a collegiate swimmer turned missionary. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am an athlete turned missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I did one year of college before I responded to the call to serve the Lord as a missionary in Virginia. I enjoy swimming, skiing, biking (this makes being a missionary a lot easier), and hiking. I am grateful for the opportunity that I have to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I have come to know for myself that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith by the power of the Book of Mormon. My witness, that I received by the power of the Holy Ghost, was not a fantastic display of lights or fireworks. My witness was a simple reassurance and a feeling of peace. I was preparing to leave home and attend college. I had just finished the Book of Mormon and I was about to take Moroni's promise and pray about the Book of Mormon and ask God if it was true. I remember determining that the answer I received would shape the course of my life. I prayed. I distinctly remember feeling the impression, "You know this is true". Since then, I have been able to feel the hand of God directing my life. This gospel and this church have brought so much peace and direction to my life.

How I live my faith

I have responded to the call to serve the Lord as a missionary. This means that I have temporarily walked away from school and swimming to devote all of my energy to serving the Lord. I am grateful for this opportunity that I have to declare the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. One of my greatest joys comes from watching people make changes in there lives and follow Christ's teachings. This service has blessed my life. One of the most significant parts of me living my faith is service. I have had many opportunities to serve others, both spiritually and temporally. My mission service has given me the opportunity to serve people temporally by helping people with small and seemingly insignificant things such as yard work. I have also been able to serve others spiritually by sharing what I have come to know through the Holy Ghost.
