Hi I'm Janessa

I am a cosmetologist and LOVE talking to complete strangers! I love playing guitar and going on adventures into the outdoors!

About Me

I'm from the eastern side of Washington State. Grew up in a small town out in the country where I liked to go on adventures into the outdoors and bring my army of stuffed animals with me. I love anything to do with the outdoors like rock-climbing, cliff jumping, hiking, and really just anything. I have a huge passion for sports especially volleyball. I love playing my guitar and bringing it with me where ever I go! I'm a social butterfly and absolutely LOVE talking to everyone! In fact, my love for people played a huge factor in eventually getting a license in cosmetology where I now have the opportunity to meet different personalities and hopefully make a difference in their life as well as my own. It truly is a wonderful life full of wonderful children of God!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel and always clung to my parents testimony until I was about 8 years old. I knew that I would be baptized but I still didn't have a full understanding of the gospel. I always clung to others strengths and testimonies but not my own. I realized that I needed to seek for that knowledge or confirmation of the truths of the gospel for myself. So when I was just 8 years old, just a little child, I decided to open up the Book of Mormon without my parents there to read it with me and with a sincere desire to know for myself. The moment I opened up the Book of Mormon, I was overcome with this indescribable feeling that I cannot express in words. Now I don't have a lot of memories I remember from my childhood, but this memory I know that I will not forget. I realize that it takes a lifetime of conversion and a continuing process of faith and dedication to the Lord and more importantly it takes WORK to stand strong in this life! I know it will be WORTH IT! I am a Mormon because I Love my Savior and if I love Him, then I need to stand as a witness of Him.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith is very simple. I live it through example. By being a missionary every day of my life. By not only serving my Lord for 18 months in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia mission, but forever wherever I am. By applying the simple truths of The Book of Mormon into my every day life. By preparing myself to receive the blessings of the temple by staying morally clean. By converting my life over to the Lord and His will for me. I live my faith for Him: Our Creator. My faith is strong because of Him who gives me strength. He lifts me up!

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Janessa
It's important for us to take care of our bodies so that we may always have the spirit, the Holy Ghost, as our constant companion. Our body is a gift from God. If we do harmful things to our body like partaking of drugs and alcohol for example, we are not able to function the way the Lord would have us function. We lose that connection with God. Our bodies are called temples of God for a reason. The temple is a very clean, pure, and sacred place here on earth. No unclean thing can enter into the temple of God. Likewise, our bodies cannot afford to have unclean things enter into it, for then our spirits will be weakened and therefore creating a more difficult place for our spirit to dwell in.
