Hi I'm Henry

I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I'm currently serving a full time mission in Berlin, Germany!

About Me

My name is Henry, I am 18 years old, I am the second oldest of a litter of 6 kids, who are all currently living in Houston, Texas. I LOVE the outdoors! I love rock climbing, bouldering, backpacking, camping... you name it! If it takes place in the wilderness, I'll do it!

Why I am a Mormon

I have made the decision to follow Christ and His teachings because I have found that through implementing His teachings into my life, leads to pure joy and happiness. I continue to follow His teachings because I cannot live without the joy I receive by practicing what I preach. The darkness and despair of the world are overwhelming, but when I keep an eternal perspective of what really matters, where we came from and where we are going, when living the commandments and tuning my life to the Savior, I can stand firm and confidently without worry or despair. I bear witness to you that the things I have said are true. I have experienced them first hand, both sides of the story. The darkness and despair of the world, versus the pure joy and happiness I have found in Christ.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? Every. Day. In a world that is constantly throwing poisonous darts at me, that is my only choice if I want to stand strong and valiantly. I have found that action is what leads to my personal growth. I have found that LIVING my faith, and I mean really living, has developed my testimony immensely and has led to my personal conviction of truth. I recently made the decision to serve a full time mission! Tomorrow, (4/7/15) I head out to the Missionary Training Center in Utah to prepare to serve two years of my life to the people of Berlin, Germany.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I have personally come to know my Father in Heaven. By no means have I always known him; it has taken years of sincere, honest prayer in which I am literally conversing with Him and sharing experiences with Him. It's similar to getting to know another person on earth, it takes effort, care, and communication. Don't get discouraged!! I bear witness He lives and knows us, and that He loves us. If you get on your knees and diligently prove to Him that you care, He will reveal himself unto you. I promise you that. Also, God is all around us! You must open your eyes and choose to recognize His hand in your life. God loves to communicate with us via tender mercies, or little things in our lives that make all the difference if you let them. For example, just the other day, I was feeling quite depressed with some personal things going on and to make things worse, I was sitting in an endless amount of traffic. All of a sudden, I notice two peacocks walking on the side of the road. What the heck! Peacocks don't live in Houston, dude! Being an animal lover, I perked right up and just started laughing out of disbelief. Now, I'm sure that there was some sort of explanation for these peacocks wandering on the side of the road, but I KNOW that my Heavenly Father's hand was in that experience to help me recognize that although a lot of things in my life are really hard to deal with, I need to remember to stop and smell the roses and recognize the beauty around me. I know that's true. Show more Show less
