Hi I'm Jeremy Alder

I didn't always believe in God. I love computers, food, and learning! I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hey everyone! I am 22 years old and loving life! Things haven't always been the greatest in life but I wouldn't have it any other way. Tinkering with things and eating are some of my favorite hobbies. (Sometimes simultaneously.) I plan to go to college and major in computer information technology. Some of my biggest goals are to have an eternal family and to raise children!

Why I am a Mormon

My relationship with God has been quite interesting. For the longest time I believed there was something up there. My life took a turn for the worse and I started to break God's commandments. There came a point where I was convinced there was no God. This was a disturbing and dark time. If there was no God, what was the purpose of my life? If there was no God, why was I here? It made logical sense to me that ending my life was a better option than to live a purposeless and pointless life. The weeks following my initial idea of the absence of a God were very hard. Life stunk. Seriously. I was NOT happy. The point came where I decided that I needed a God if He was really there. I started to read the Book of Mormon. Man, that book was extremely boring at first. It was something I definitely didn't read for the content in the beginning. A passage really stuck out to me. Read Moroni 10: 4-5 right now! Moroni promises us that if we are going to act on our prayer that God will answer us. As I prayed I did not feel anything or hear magical choirs of angels. I went about my day and simply pondered the promise and my prayer. There was an event at our local church building and I went a few hours early to continue to ponder and pray. Who was God? Did He really love me? My mind was overcome with a feeling that I knew could only come from a Father in Heaven who loved me, knew me, and cared for me. This is why I am a Mormon. This is why I live my faith. This is why I serve!

How I live my faith

Right now I have the opportunity to serve as a full time missionary for the Church. I am serving in the Ohio Cleveland Mission. Service to others has always been a very important part of my life. Helping others and working to improve their lives brings me the most enjoyment in life. Before my mission I served as an assistant audio visual director for a grouping of local congregations in the city where I lived. Heavenly Father has given us talents so that we can bless other people's lives! I live my faith by trying my best to do what our Savior would do.
