Hi I'm Mallory

I grew up in Iowa. I left home to attend school in Rexburg, Idaho. I love history, government, and politics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in the Midwest as a member of the Church was difficult because I was a definite minority. I never let that stop me from being involved or making friends. I love theatre and music so I spent most of my time in school in those two worlds. I also took a lot of leadership courses and enjoyed learning more about my state government. Now my hobbies involve a lot of cooking and baking between classes at BYU-Idaho! The kitchen has always been my home and my experiments there have won me a lot of friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, and I was baptized when I was 8, however I wasn't truly converted to the gospel until years later. I felt myself wondering if I wanted to go to church anymore or why I was going in the first place. It was then that I decided I should focus on studying the scriptures to see if I even believed they were true, specifically the Book of Mormon. As I started to read a little bit every day, I had questions. I felt like the best person to ask was my Father in Heaven, so I prayed for answers. The first time I ever received an answer (called personal revelation) it was just a quiet feeling, but it was enough for me to know what I was reading was true. It was enough to make me sure. Over time, that testimony grew to include the restoration, prophets, eternal marriage and families, repentance, temples, and missionary work. I am a Mormon because I believe in a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to return to Him again some day. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and that without his Atoning sacrifice, I could never get back to my eternal home. I believe that the Holy Spirit is someone who's companionship I should always strive to keep, because he brings peace, and he brings understanding. I am a Mormon because as I study the gospel, I see how my life is blessed and I look around me and see blessings in the lives of others. I choose to continue scripture study and prayer because I want to always see the hand of the Lord in my life. I am a Mormon because I love the gospel, and I love the peace it brings into my life.

How I live my faith

I had a lot of leadership positions when I was in the Youth program at church. Now that I am an adult, I still work with the youth when I am back home in Iowa. I help the teenage girls in my town get ready to go to the Girls Camp in the summer, and I attend the week-long camp with them. The girls and I have a lot of fun, and I really enjoy watching their testimonies grow.
