Hi I'm Norris Jr.

I grew up in Santa Clarita, California. I'm a hard working construction worker and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of two little boys and have a lovely, hard working wife. They are the joy of my life. I currently work in construction and have since bounced around a few careers trying to find out what I'm passionate about doing. I love the outdoors and enjoy spending time with family.

Why I am a Mormon

There are so many reasons why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. First and foremost I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and redeemer. Being a Mormon is so much more than what people think it is. I am just starting to scratch the surface on this understanding. I know that Christ established His church on this earth from the beginning and did so again when He came to this earth. After His death and the death of the apostles many plain and precious truths were lost (Where did we come from?, Why are we here?, Where are we going?, Correct interpretation of the scriptures, etc.). He established his church once again on the earth through a living prophet and apostles. The authority has been restored to perform the work we need to complete on this earth. I am a Mormon because I know that this is His true church upon the earth. Everyone has great things in their churches but God is a God of order and has a specific direction for His children to follow to return again to His presence. I hiked Yosemite valley one summer in California and one night I looked into the vastness of space and thought to myself how impossible it would be for all of this to just randomly happen. Billions of stars and galaxies are our there for what? You might not seem important in the grand scheme of things but YOU are. God lives, His son Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and we can return to live with them again if we but follow them throughout our lives. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Currently I have the responsibility of teaching Sunday School for the 12 - 13 year old kids. Each week I get to prepare a 45 minute lesson to help these youth apply the principles of the gospel in their every day lives. They are a curious, exploratory group of kids that are excited about life. I try to feed of their energy and help them draw closer to their Savior.

What is being a Mormon like?

Norris Jr.
Being a Mormon can be seen as weird, difficult, different, etc. To me, being a Mormon is exciting! I know what my Heavenly Father wants from me through a living prophet. I get to guide my family on a path of happiness and safety. Is it weird? Well if you think not drinking or smoking, going to church every Sunday, spending most of time with family is weird then Yes being a Mormon is weird and different. We are different because we live in the world but not of the world. I say its exciting because it is difficult. God is preparing us for something bigger. That is exciting to me! Show more Show less
