Why I am a Mormon

I converted to the Lord's church when I was 18. Growing up, my family was not active in the Catholic church, but still Catholic. As a young child, I gained a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and his role as our loving, and powerful redeemer and savior. So I chose to go through with my 1st communion in the Catholic church. Though when I was older, I came to my own conclusion that religion was manmade. So I decided not to be confirmed as a member of the Catholic church. When I was 18, I began investigating The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The thing that sparked my curiosity enough to investigate the church was a couple of things. I was intrigued at first by my girlfriend(future wife) who was a member of the church, explained to me what a prophet was. The second thing is what made me determined to find out for myself if this church was true. It was the doctrine of eternal marriage. Marriage that is not "death due you part". I had to find out if this promise could be true, if I could obtain this with my future wife. So I began to investigate the church. It was not going well with the missionaries at first. But in one discussion. I had decided to myself at that moment that I was finished. Just then, I was re-told the story of Joseph Smith and how the Lord's church was restored to the earth once again. And how the Book of Mormon came to be. I had an extremely powerful witness from the Holy Ghost that this story was true. It took me a few days to come to terms with this. Then set my baptism date. Being a member of this church and continuously learning and studying the scriptures and church doctrine. And applying the Lord's teachings to my best ability has filled my life with true joy and happiness. As well as success in my family life. No doubt in my mind that this is the Lord's church restored to the earth. I encourage all to test the tree and see for yourself if the fruit of the tree is good. As Jesus taught, by their fruits ye shall know them.

How I live my faith

Love the scriptures(word of God). Enjoy talking with people about the Lord's gospel and doctrine. My wife and kids are my 1st and foremost calling and focus in my stewardships to God.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We only worship Heavenly Father and His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. To us, Joseph Smith is honored, NOT worshipped. We honour and respect him the same way that other Christians honour any prophet of God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Heavenly Father is the best father anyone could have. God is the father of our spirits. He sent us here to give us a mortal body, and to come to know the difference between good and evil, pleasure and pain, etc., for ourselves. He sent us here to have families of our own to care for and love. All of these things are essential for us to become like our Father in Heaven. That is what he wanted. Every good father wants his children to become and inherit at least what he is and has. The Apostle Paul taught that we are literally the offspring of God. I know that this is true. We are his children. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Only someone is was perfect and without any sins could offer himself as a ransom for all of mankind. Jesus Christ is the only person who ever lived that had no sins and had that kind of love for his brothers and sisters(human race). Show more Show less
