Hi I'm Matthew

I have trained for military service since I was 11. I am still only a college level student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been training for military service from a young age. After High School, I planned to enlist and gain a commission through ROTC at a school that I desperately wanted to attend and I had a scholarship too. I enjoy reading and running.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and I didn't know any other religious faith. In my teenage years, I grew curious and left the church for a short time. While I was away, I searched other faiths but none seemed to have what I was searching for. I also lost a sense of comfort when I was searching. Finally I came back due to guidance from my friends (who are not Mormons) and I felt a sense of peace and comfort. I planned to serve in the military after school when the age for missionary work was lowered for males to the age of 18. I ignored the change as I was focused on serving in the Army. Serving in the Army has been my life's dream and that was all I prepared for since a young age. I then had the fortune of meeting a Mormon family and befriending them. While I was with them, their son asked me if I was excited about the age change. I sheepishly answered "Yes I am" even though I didn't really care. I then felt this strong sense that I need to serve a mission and after praying about it for a week, I announced my desire to serve a mission. Ever since then, I have felt the Spirit in my life almost on a daily basis.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary. Every day I wake up, read my scriptures, say a prayer, and continue with my day. I repeat that process when I prepare for bed as well.
