Hi I'm Mapuana

I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I love bodyboarding and bodysurfing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love and am very grateful for being born and raised in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. I have been blessed with the sticky salt air, bipolar weather, and the soft and open hearts of these diverse people. I am a lover of the outdoors. I love hiking and camping in the mountains and swimming and surfing in the sea. I enjoy ANY type of sport! You name, I'll play it! I've attended the University of Utah for one year but returned home to serve my mission. I've been called serve in the Vancouver, Washington mission!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but I wasn't raised in it. My family and I were inactive members that would only attend church on occasion (most times for baptisms and sports night). When I came to church, I felt inadequate because I didn't know the hymns we sang or who the latest prophet was. As I got older, my family and I would come in and out of church all the time. I started dating a member who's family, and himself, were strong in the church. I would attend sacrament with them, join them in family home evening, and even feed the missionaries with them, all of which helped me to learn of the gospel and understand the church. But it wasn't till I left for college that I truly developed my own testimony of the gospel. I attended the University of Utah which is thousands of miles away from my little home in the sea. Although I had many wonderful and genuine friends there, I still felt alone and had a severe case of homesickness. I spent many nights crying myself to sleep and wondering what to do, that's when I turned to prayer. Never in my life have I prayed so hard, I'd pray, cry, fall asleep and wake up to do it all again. My mom passed away about a year before I left for college. Being the eldest daughter, it was my responsibility to step up and take on the role my mother left behind. I pleaded and cried and asked my father in heaven "what can I do to help my family?". He told me "serve your mission". I love this gospel and church more than I could ever imagine! I have found comfort and peace as I've prayed earnestly and studied the scriptures diligently. I know this to be the true and restored gospel here on earth. I'm mormon because I know the plan of happiness to be true and that some day, my family and I will be sealed together for time and all eternity. I know that through Jesus Christ I am saved and through his atonement I may be cleansed. I know my heart has been touched by the spirit and I hope some day, you may feel and know that same joy for yourself.Aloha

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping the members to stay organized by informing them of the events coming within the next month. I also live my faith by preparing to serve my mission. In doing so, I've been given the opportunity to teach lessons, speak in church, and participate in Sunday school discussions.
