Hi I'm Ian Taylor

I'm from Springville, Utah. I love the outdoors. I'm an Eagle Scout, Air Force Cadet, Engineer, a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. Scouting is one of the primary reasons that I discovered this passion. Scuba Diving, Camping, Fourwheeling, and Hiking are some of my favorite pass times. Another desire that came from Scouting is in serving others. This is why I am now a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. I have been admitted to Brigham Young University and will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I have been given an Air Force ROTC Type 7 technical scholarship, which is a major source of my payment for college tuition and other necessities. I also have a major passion for music. I plan on auditioning for the University Choirs as well as it's a capella group and various music theory classes. I am the oldest of five siblings whom I love dearly regardless of the countless altercations between us. My father is a commercial salesman and my mother is a math tutor by hobby. I have worked in many different fields. I am currently an intern for Novatek, an innovative company that supports at least half a dozen small businesses as well as major synthetic diamond production. Another focus is on patents, an we currently hold well over six hundred of them. I have also been a lifeguard, a grocery bagger, an elementary school math and reading tutor, and a day camp counselor. I love tinkering, be it with my car, my four wheeler, or computers. It all holds secrets that I am extremely curious about.

Why I am a Mormon

I have studied the words of the Prophets, both in ancient and modern times. The Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other testaments of Christ's divinity all direct me to the truthfulness of his restored gospel. Through Joseph Smith, God restored his church in this dispensation, revealing to us his power and glory line upon line and precept upon precept. He has restored his priesthood, both the power and authority to baptize and bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost. The priesthood and the Holy Ghost are both gifts of God meant to teach, empower, warn, comfort, and heal his people. The greatest gift is that of his son Jesus Christ, who offered himself up as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Eternal Laws of both Justice and Mercy needed to be followed, but only through this third party of infinite perfection, love and humility could this harmony be accomplished. His atonement is infinite and none are exempt of its both healing and enabling capabilities. Christ's life was an exemplary one, without sin. He is the Lamb of God, the Prince of Peace, my Saviour and Redeemer. I have felt his love for me in my strife, and I now will strive every day to abide by his higher law of love and mercy. When I falter, I quickly repent so that I may consistently be worthy of his accompaniment. The Temple is the House of God, and in it, all of the saving ordinances are performed for families on earth. All things that are sealed by the power of worthy priesthood holders are sealed in heaven, and so shall they ever be. Spouses and Families are sealed for eternity with promise of blessings raining from heaven if we abide by his law. This is my unshakeable testimony that will stay with me to the end of may days and beyond when I leave this mortal frame and rejoin my Heavenly Father in his Glory.

How I live my faith

With faith comes desire. I abide by this principle especially in the service of others, be it on an individual, local, or national scale, I will do it all. From military service to talking to a stranger about how their day has been, the overall purpose is selflessness and sacrifice for OTHERS. After all, isn't the purpose of life all about others? Where would we be without our family, friends, and even the strangers that we may or may not fail to acknowledge as existing and possibly struggling sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. As a missionary to be in the China Hong Kong mission, another focus that constantly occupies my thoughts is worthiness of the accompaniment of the Spirit and the Power of the Priesthood. I strive to maintain this worthiness daily, though the temptations come as waves in a storm. I find solace in daily scripture study and sincere prayer.
