Hi I'm Garnalee

I grew up on a farm in Idaho. I have 10 brothers and sisters. I taught school for 30 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm and learned to work hard along side my siblings and parents. In the spring of the year we would all work in the potato cellar cutting potatoes to be planted. During the summer we could be found in the beet or potato field hoeing weeds from the among the plants. In the fall we would work to harvest the potatoes and other crops that were planted in the spring. Today I still love to garden and get my hands in the dirt. I learned to sew at a young age through a program called 4-H. I started off hemming dish towels. Later I went on to making clothes for myself, and then for my son. Today I use my talent to create quilts. I also love to read.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the happiness it brings into my life. I am given many opportunities to grow as I serve in the church. My husband and I love to read the scriptures together and look for the deeper meaning that is there. Most of all, I have chosen to be a member because of the promise I have been given in one of our temples that I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

During the years I was a teacher I was active in my local, state, and national teachers' organizations. As a teacher I found that I could have an influence for good on the children I taught. Several teachers and myself would organize a Christmas program for our students to perform. We would include fun songs along with songs of the Savior's birth. It was a joy to teach a lesson to the women's group in my church monthly. But my greatest joy has come as my husband and I have made the choice to serve missions together. We had the opportunity to serve in Hong Kong from 2012-2014. We are now preparing to serve in the Philippines.
