Hi I'm Kathy

I live in Utah USA. I love to organize and direct community choirs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to 8 and a grandmother to 32. I love sharing music with my children and grandchildren. I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree and music and have taught piano and voice lessons to dozens of young people. I love helping them feel good by making music. I enjoy organizing musical events for my community so that others can share their talents and bring joy to their families and friends. I also love living in Utah because of the many natural beauties found here, especially the awesome mountains and the amazing red rock wonders found in Southern Utah. Hiking is a favorite hobby of mine. I love to share the wonders of nature with my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! It brings so much joy into my life. I was raised in a family of 8 children by parents who loved the Lord and serving in the Mormon church, setting a wonderful example for me. My great-grandparents joined the Mormon church in Denmark, England and Wales. They made great sacrifices to come to Utah from their native lands and raised a faithful posterity. My mother's English and Welsh relatives were very musical and their talents have been passed down through the family. I am so grateful to them! I want to follow in the footsteps by being a faithful member of my church. My husband and I will soon serve a mission for our church in Manchester, England, where my ancestors joined the church. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. I know that we have a prophet today, Pres. Thomas S. Monson. I am truly blessed to be a member of this church.

How I live my faith

I am a choir director for my church and have organized and directed children's choirs, youth choirs and adult choirs. Directing a choir helps me feel closer to my Savior, as I try to choose music for our church meetings that can help others feel his spirit. I also love putting together musicals which involve members of my church and their families. When people are in a musical play together they become closer as they work together. Visiting the sick and bringing meals to those who are ill is also a great privilege that I enjoy. In my community I have volunteered for the Arts Council for over 30 years, helping to organize free concerts in the park, musicals and a chamber music series. It has been so rewarding to see those with exceptional ability freely donating their time and talents so that families and seniors can benefit.
