Hi I'm Jake

I'm a wrestler. I love to hammock. I'm a missionary in the Ohio Cleveland Mission. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old. I'm from Cache Valley, Utah. I have an amazing family. They are the most important thing to me, second only to my relationship with God my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. My friends are also very important to me. I love to be outdoors, especially if I'm in a hammock. I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Ohio Cleveland Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life, I've been influenced and surrounded by countless sources, as virtually everyone is during their experiences in their own lives. In all of this, I've found the greatest peace, happiness and direction for my own life and the life of my family in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Answers to my greatest questions, hope to guide through the hardest trials, and light to lead me through my darkest moments has come from living the gospel of Jesus Christ that I have found in the LDS faith. I'm a Mormon because I want to have peace and happiness in this life and in the life to come and I believe that this is the surest way to do achieve that.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in my church and community. I've held youth leadership positions multiple times in the church and have been able to serve and share the gospel with those around me. I encourage my peers to do the right things and strive to do those things myself. Though my school has many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I still work to be an example to my peers and be a witness of Christ through my actions. I'm also serving a mission in the Ohio Cleveland Mission, sharing my testimony and striving to help others come closer to Christ.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jake
When Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, He took all the mistakes and faults we will have in our life and answered the demands of justice so that through mercy and the Savior's atonement we could be saved from our sins and return to our Father in Heaven for eternity. By suffering the pain of our sins and challenges, He redeemed us and made it possible for us to repent and become pure through Him. Because He atoned for each of us individually, He knows our weaknesses and our struggles and is able to help us overcome those difficulties. The atonement was necessary so that, after all we have done to follow the commandments, the Savior could rescue us from our inevitable failure to be perfect. The atonement allows us to be saved and live in Heaven with our God and Savior. The atonement has allowed me to overcome my imperfections and faults and become more like my Savior. When I apply the power of the atonement in my life, I feel the Savior's love for each of His Father's children. Because of the atonement, I can be forgiven of my sins and draw closer to Christ and my Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
