Hi I'm James

I study Geology at Utah State University. I love downhill skateboarding. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Cambridge, Ohio and moved to Logan Utah when I was twenty. I moved because I love the mountains and being outdoors. I just recently got married and I am studying Geology at Utah State University. My main passion is downhill longboarding. I started about five years ago and it has become a big part of my life. I struggle with depression and longboarding helps me to cope with the negative thoughts that come from being depressed.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had a lot of ups and downs in my life. I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but towards the end of high school I began to stray from the things I had learned. For several years, I was looking for happiness things that society and culture say bring happiness. Eventually, it came to the point where I couldn't look at myself in the mirror without being ashamed. Through the help of some very loving, but straightforward, people, I began to change my life and realized that the only true happiness comes from following Jesus Christ and living his Gospel. I am not perfect by any means, but I know that I am on the right track. Jesus Christ is my Savior. He is my friend. He is my exemplar. By following him, we can all have true joy in this life and in the life to come.

How I live my faith

Really, I just try to be a good person and follow Christ's example. As previously mentioned, I deal with depression. In addition to longboarding, trying to be like Jesus and serving others has helped me so much when I am having a hard time. I believe that he suffered not only for my sins, but for my weaknesses and because of that, I believe that he can help me when I am down.
