Hi I'm Darien Julander

I'm a culinary artist by day and a musician by night I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love the culinary arts, food is a great passion of mine along side being a musician. I play the Tenor Saxophone as well as a couple other various instruments. I was in my high school marching band for four years, and was Drum Major my senior year. I am creative and think out side the box. I enjoy the art of drawing, although I wasn't as good as I thought I would be. For the past few years I have been creating a Batman suit made out of duct tape, and it is still an on going project of mine. I can take wire and make beautiful prices of art out of them. My friends say I am the funny one of the group, even though my jokes are pretty bad and not very funny. I'm a comic book nerd all my friends would come to me ask about things in either universe (mostly DC, sorry marvel fans), and I would be able to tell them lot of what they wanted to know. Now at this point in my life I get the great opportunity to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in my house living the gospel was a requirement, not much room for error, so I went along with it not really knowing if it was the true gospel. Then when I entered high school and started to attend seminary, which is a church sponsored school, so we can better understand the gospel as we grow older. I started to question everything through that year about the gospel. Near the end of every year my seminary teacher would always challenge us to find out for ourselves whether or not the gospel was true. That hit me pretty hard, no one has ever challenged me to find out for myself. But you know what year after year I took my teachers challenge and I prayed to find out of the truth. You know what my answer was, yes this is the true and restored gospel. Year after year I had no doubt in my mind that this was the restored gospel of Christ. On a side note, let me ask you a question, has anyone ever past away in your life that was so close to you, that you never stop mourning over the loss of said person. Well this happened to me. In high school everyone started to ask if I would go on a mission right after high school, so when stuck with a problem I pray about it. I was told to wait, for some reason that was still unclear to me at that time, and so I waited. I kept praying to find out why I was waiting but no answer came then the day after Thanksgiving 2014 my grandfather past away. I was at work when my dad called asking when I would be home, I didn't think much of the call until I got home. When he broke the news to me. Inside I was thinking no that can't be right he was doing so well in recovery, how can he have pasted, so I pondered it and I don't think it was until the funeral came around that it had truly sunk in that he was gone. So I prayed to know of the truth of families can be together for ever and the opportunity to see my grandfather again, I was comforted to know that families can be together forever and I would be able to see my grandfather again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best me I can be. That means I will help serve were need be, and overall work my hardest. I live my faith by taking the principals taught and apply them in my life and I encourage you to do the same. I am also a missionary serving in the Michigan Lansing Mission

What is the Book of Mormon?

Darien Julander
The Book of Mormon is Another Testament Of Jesus Christ being the Savior and Redeemer of the World. just like the Bible is one witness that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God. the Book of Mormon is an added witness, to that divinity and truth. the Book of Mormon takes place about 600 B.C. when God commanded a prophet to take his family and travel east where eventually they landed on the American Continent so they settle on this land and the line of prophets continue and all of the prophets testify that Jesus is the Christ, and that he will come into the world to save us all from sin and eventually die on the cross for us, and the crowning event of the Book of Mormon is that Jesus Christ in his Resurrected glory appeared to these people and established His gospel just like he did in the Bible. this added book of scripture does not in any way take away from the witness and testimony of the Bible, but rater adds too and strengthens that testimony. like Paul has said "by the mouth of two or three witness shall the word be established" the Bible is one the Book of Mormon is the second witness and together they help to establish the gospel that Jesus Christ established while he was here on the earth. at the end is a promise given to all that want to know that the Book of Mormon is True, Moroni 10:3-5. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/moro/10?lang=eng I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is True cause i have prayed and asked, as this promise directs. What is the First Vision?

Darien Julander
The First Vision is what started the restoration of the gospel. the same gospel that Jesus Christ had taught when he was here on the earth. It all starts with Joseph Smith who as a boy was caught up too much reflection on the topic of religion, and as he grew up he became confused about which of the sects were right. so he turned to the bible, and one day he was reading in James 1:5 which reads “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” no passage of scripture had ever touched his heart more that this one did to his at this time, so he decided to take James advice and Ask in faith, and in the spring of 1820 Joseph entered a grove of trees and in his own word he says "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me... When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, [Joseph] This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Joseph was told by Jesus Christ to join none of the sects for they were all wrong, and that the church that he had organized with his authority was no longer on the earth. Jesus Christ called him to be a Prophet giving him the same authority that were in times past. with this powerful account by Joseph Smith marked the beginning of the restoration. Show more Show less
