Hi I'm Alannah

I grew up in Florida. I'm an artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm nineteen years old and I have been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. Because I was homeschooled, I had the opportunity to develop my talents. My parent always encouraged me to use my talents. At a very young age I developed an interest in business. Growing up homeschooled, I was able to expand on my interests. I learned how to be an entrepreneur. I sold anything from scarves I knitted, to mangos right off the tree. If I ever wanted something, I found ways to make the money to get it. I never asked my parents for money. To me they are like little victories. Some people get excited about solving a hard problem, finishing a race, or learning a new language. For me it's being able to create an opportunity to earn money from my talents and resources to achieve my goals. Going back to art. There was a time in my life that I really disliked drawing. I either didn't have time or was having "artist's block." I felt like I was defined by my art. That's what people knew my by. "Alannah is nice and she can draw". Now that I'm older, I realize what a wonderful thing that was. To be known as an artist who is also a nice person. Not until 3 years ago did I get back into drawing and painting. What a great outlet it was for me. I had forgotten how much I loved it. God had blessed me with a talent and I was made to use it. I even sell commissioned art. Now that's not too surprising considering what I grew up doing. God gives you talents especially for you. Use them!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I'm a Mormon, because I know this Gospel is true. I have felt it for myself. The Holy Ghost has born witness to me the truth of it many times. I know that God loves each and every one of us and knows each of us by name. He wants us to live with Him again. I know that Joseph Smith translated "The Book of Mormon" and that it is true. I know that we have a living prophet today, in these latter-days, who loves us. He receives revelations from God for us today. I love this Church and for the comfort and knowledge it gives and look forward to sharing this knowledge with others. Not only on my mission for 18 months, but for the rest of my life. I bare witness of the truth of these things, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

In church, I currently have the opportunity to volunteer my time as a nursery teacher. I teach children ages 3-4. Funny enough, I remember being their age. So that calling is very dear to my heart. I love them and I know that if they know you really care about them, they will love you right back. Some people think that at that age, they don't understand or remember much. But let me tell you, they do. Just because some of them may not be able to talk does not mean they don't understand. I get to teach them about Jesus Christ and how much He loves them, how to pray and why we pray. At this tender age they are able to absorb so much. It's amazing to see their eyes light up when they are able to answer a question or learn something new. God loves all his little children and I am happy to be able teach them about Him and His plan for us. I will also be leaving to serve a Mission very soon. I look forward to being able to share something that has helped me and has brought joy in my life.
