Hi I'm Allan Latham

I am a husband, father and grandfather. I love life. I am a Mormon

About Me

I was raised in southern California, but have also lived in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Kansas, England, and Utah. My experience has taught me that people all over the world are basically the same with similar loves, fears and desire to be happy. I taught school in the juvenile detention facilities in Los Angels County and in the LDS Seminary program. Most of my professional life was spent in the pharmaceutical industry. I have served as a BSA Scout Master. As a young man I served a mission in and around London, England. Later in life, my first wife and I served a mission in Nauvoo, IL. I have worked with homeless and transient people. My first wife passed away a couple of years ago. My new wife and I serve in the Ogden Temple. We will be serving a mission to Manchester, England soon. I have enjoyed organizing river rafting trips for large groups of people; biking (I want to bike across the USA... high on my bucket list!); and hiking. As a hobby, I photograph children and then through photo manipulation, I create fun photo fantasy scenes using their images. There is nothing more fun than to see the faces of little girls as they see themselves as fairy princesses, or little boys as super heroes fighting dragons or other villains. I am a grandfather to 32 wonderful grandkids. They bring great joy into my life.

Why I am a Mormon

As mentioned before, I gained a faith in Jesus Christ and the restoration of his church through Joseph Smith while in my youth. I gained that knowledge through the power of the Holy Ghost (John 15:26; 1 Cor. 2:11, 12:3). With that knowledge I feel a desire and need to align myself with his service for all of God's children by being of service to him and thus to my family, friends, and all that I meet.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with a wonderful life. I find joy in the service of others. I love people. I was fortunate in my youth to received the confirmation of the Holy Ghost of the truthfulness of the divine mission of Jesus Christ, of the restoration of his gospel and his church through the prophet Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and the continuation of revelation to his latter-day prophets. This knowledge has guided my behavior throughout my life. When I have made bad choices, I know that I have, and have known how to correct them because of my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I recognize that along with everyone else in the world, I am not perfect and have need to follow Christ to make things right. I try not to judge others during their life-quest, as I hope they will not judge me during mine. I believe I have found a treasure in my faith in Jesus Christ and in my discovery of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I want to share that treasure with others. I have devoted much of the time to the service of others in both spiritual and temporal ways. I have been a missionary locally wherever I have lived in the USA and in England. I am not sure which came first... I love people because I have served them, or I serve them because I love them. I guess it makes no difference.
