Hi I'm Joe Bounds

I am a son of a WWII veteran. I am an afakasi. I was inactive after serving a mission. I am tattooed. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised by a 20 year Marine veteran who served in WWII and Korea. He was the most tender and loving father. I grew up Mormon but was inactive for most of my teenage years. I played baseball religiously and was always told that the "Big Leagues" were within arms reach for me. However, following high school I began living my faith and developed plans to serve a mission per my fathers advice. He always quoted Mathew 6:33- "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I put baseball on hold to focus on serving the Lord fulltime. The more I served the more I realized that I had inherited my mothers passionate faith and undying testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. Following my mission it was hard to associate with members of the church. Even though I knew it was true, I couldn't identify with anyone in my age group. I began hanging out with most of my non-Mormon friends and eventually cut all ties to the church. I stayed inactive for years following the trends of society. I developed numerous bad habits and got a full sleeve and a 1/2 of tattoos. After I was married and started having children my thoughts immediately turned to how I was living and how I wanted my kids to grow up. I began the long road back and started the repentance process. Several years later I am now sealed to my lovely wife and 3 beautiful kids for time and all eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my undying love for my Lord and Savior. I have found more answers to questions here than from any other source in this life. I have grown closer to my Savior than I could have ever hoped or imagined. This is truly "The Church of Jesus Christ" in its entirety. I feel my saviors love more now than ever. I know that this is his Gospel.

How I live my faith

Living my faith starts in my home. Having a Gospel centered home is the base from which all battles are won against the adversary. No matter what trials or struggles this life has to offer, daily prayer and scripture study with the family is the remedy. From this we build faith, love and hope as an eternal family unit. We build a fortress, a sanctuary and a refuge from the world around us that is growing more and more evil daily.
