Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm passionate about life. I'm passionate about people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student of life, but also of BYU. I'm studying communications to help me change the world. I love art, music, exercise, food, laughter, movies, books, comfy couches, late night hours, the color yellow and staring into the sun at sunset (ouch). My family is one big, hilarious support group of thirteen (in laws included) and I always want to be around them. I talk too much, care too much and eat too much but those are some of my favorite things about me. Currently I work with women in recovery, autistic adults and senile grandparents because I love people and learning about them and helping them and letting them help me. Thats the real cream of life. I never want to sky dive but I will hike in the amazon. I'll never be President but I'd give anything to be a mom. One of my greatest achievements is finishing a whole box of mac n'cheese...by myself. And I think that my blood type is the only A+ I need to survive.

Why I am a Mormon

The Book of Mormon helped me to get to know my Savior and Father in Heaven. I knew it had to be true because it was effecting me so positively once I really started to read it. I'd always been a good person but not a true hunter of good and true things. I never saw reality more clearly than when I first studied the Book of Mormon, I mean really studied with my heart and head. I recognized a feeling that I wanted to be like the people of the Book of Mormon. The prophets in there are so devoted to our Father in Heaven that I loved them and wanted to serve Him like they do. So He sent me on a mission to gain the tools. He taught me that He has so much in store for me and for all of my brothers and sisters here and will do anything to give it to them, and this is the way. Through His Son and the Atonement He performed He can give us anything. He's established the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to be the container for everything He wants us to have and learn while we are here, all in one place. The Book of Mormon is the key to knowing whether or not that is true. I testify that it is. That Christ is the key, and I love Him so much.

How I live my faith

I've often had leadership callings in the church I think for no other reason than I'm not afraid to take charge. I love having the responsibility to care for lots of people. Beyond that I really try to spiritually understand all points and principles of the gospel. I believe you can earn a testimony of any true thing you want to, the key being that you want to. I haven't always believed, but once I got acquainted with Heavenly Father He showed me parts of who He was and who I could be. He helped me remember little pieces of our relationship before this life and thats all I needed to follow Him. By His Son I change, and so can all the people I love, I owe Him everything. That includes my comfort zone which He asks of me every day. I'm weak but He is teaching me how to be strong.
