Hi I'm Michael Charlton

I'm a software developer at a financial institution in San Antonio, TX.

About Me

I'm a software developer for a financial institution in south Texas. I have a beautiful redhead wife and a little girl who is not so little anymore. My wife totally thinks I'm adorable.

Why I am a Mormon

This church provides a stable set of moral principles my wife and I can base our entire lives on. We don't have to worry about the next popular vote of morality, because God's laws of morality are set. All we have to do is teach those laws to our children. We also believe prophets and apostles guide us today as well. Why wouldn't they? In this day in age, we need them more than ever.

How I live my faith

We take the gospel one day at a time by doing daily scriptures and family prayers. We have one family night a week that we try to do on Monday, but that day of the week isn't always set in stone. We do our best to incorporate the gospel in our daily life, otherwise we'd go insane.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Michael Charlton
We believe it to be central in our existence. The family is ordained by God as the most fundamental unit in any society. That, we believe, is a great reason to take it very very seriously. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Michael Charlton
Absolutely not. We do not practice, encourage, or teach it. It was practiced in the early days of the church, but we denounced the practice of plural marriage about 120 years ago. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Michael Charlton
The role of husband and wife is 100% equal in every way. My wife and I talk together, counsel together, and come together on decisions equally regarding our daughter and our lives. Are we perfect? Nope! My faults are more than plentiful. We stumble all the time. But we are equal partners sharing equally in family responsibilities. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Michael Charlton
We celebrate the very same holidays the same as any other Christian would do. We open presents at Christmas, do Easter egg hunts, and personally, I have a terrible weakness for Christmas fudge. For Church, we typically dress in our Sunday best. That can mean any variety of styles and fashions for both men and women. Modesty is important, though. We never throw people out for not wearing ties. I've seen soldiers come to church in army fatigues and I've seen nurses come to church in scrubs, because of job demands. We welcome all of them.
