Hi I'm Kaylee Mumford

I grew up in Utah. I am a college art student. I'm passionate about life and art. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm going to school to become an illustrator. I've been creating art all of my life. My parents say that I was a well behaved child, except for all the times I would draw on our walls. Apparently I always knew that I was meant to become an artist. I love my family with all my heart! We spending time together doing anything from playing board games to exploring outside, but no matter what we're doing, we're always laughing. There are few things I love more than reading a good book. I also enjoy watching movies with friends and can quote just about any disney movie.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. From a very young age I can remember falling asleep listening to stories from the bible. When I turned eight years old I made the decision to be baptized. At the time, I didn't fully understand or appreciate the gospel, but I recall the joy I felt that day. In high school I participated in seminary classes, where my understanding of the scriptures started to grow. My junior year, I had an experience that caused me to feel completely alone. Although I knew, logically that I had people that loved me, and I knew things were going to be alright, I found myself in a really dark place. Looking back at that time, I can see that I was suffering from depression. It wasn't until I turned to the scriptures, and I turned to my savior that I was able to find that peace that I had been searching for. Since that time, my faith and appreciation for the church has only grown stronger. I know that this is Christ's church on the earth today because it has brought me so much joy! As Christ said, "ye shall know them by their fruits." (Matt. 7:16) I am choosing to give up 18 months of my life to serve my Savior and my fellow men because I want them to have the chance to experience the same peace and joy that I have received from this gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by studying my scriptures and spending time in prayer with my Father in Heaven. During my senior year of high school I made a goal to start reading my scriptures daily, and I haven't missed a single day since. Although I am not perfect, I strive everyday to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am currently preparing myself for the next chapter in my life. I am going to serve a mission in order to bring the joy that this church has brought me to the people in Arcadia, California. I can't wait to serve the people there and my Savior as well. "Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing, that I might bring souls unto repentance; that I might bring them to taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste, that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost." (Alma 36:24)
