Hi I'm Dave

I grew up in Sacramento California. I gained a great appreciation for the outdoors in northern California. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Sacramento California. I gained a great love for the outdoors by being involved with the Scouting program and my Dad taking me hunting and fishing. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout. During this Scouting experience I gained a great love for backpacking and climbing mountains in Northern California. Our Scout Troop climbed Mt Whitney when I was 12 years old. After going on a mission for the Mormon Church, I graduated from Brigham Young University in Business. I was able to take a job with Krogers as a store manager in central Texas. This helped to gain some great experience as I eventually started my own Insurance Agency with Allstate in the city of San Marcos. I loved working with people in the community and developing great relationships. After 29 years I retired and started to continue other interests in life. I love to see animals and scencery in remote areas of the world. I have seen Polar Bears in Churchhill Canada, Orca Whales bubble feeding in Alaska and many seen many beautiful areas in New Mexico and Colorado. I believe their is so many beautiful areas on this earth to see. I also love to play a good match of tennis and continue to learn many gardening skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the true gospel of Jesus Christ that has been restored to the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have prayed and read the Book of Mormon many times and the feeling within my heart has brought peace and understanding of it's truthfulness. I have felt a warm peaceful feeling witness to me that we currently have a true prophet and apostles on the earth today. It is comforting to know that God continues to speak in our day and reveal his will to his mouthpiece the prophet. It gives me much hope knowing Jesus Christ lives today and he has made it possible for me to be forgiven of my sins. Being a Mormon gives me much confidence and strength knowing what Gods full plan of happiness is. I am so grateful to know that I can be with my family forever if I live up to the promises and commitments I have made with my Heavenly Father in his Temple.

How I live my faith

I love to help my neighbors with any service they need. I enjoy working with the Boy Scouts in our community. I am currently a District Commissioner and visit various Scouting Units to help them enhance their Scouting program. I am member of the Kiwanis Club within our community. We focus on servicing the youth and young children. My wife and I have recently served as Den Leaders within a pack in our community. We love helping the Cub Scouts develop skills and build good moral character. Within our Church I love visiting assigned members monthly to help them come closer to Christ.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Dave
The Atonement of Jesus Christ provides a way that I can be forgiven of my sins. To me Christ Atonement has 3 parts. He bled from every pore in the Garden of Gethsemane and then shortly afterwards he suffered a painful death by being crucifed at Golgotha. Three days later he was Resurrected and provided each us to have the gift of resurrection. It was so necessary for Jesus Christ to provide this for us. We are all sinners and justice would have to be satisfied and we would have no chance to return to our Heavenly Father. Only through Jesus Christ mercy is it possible. His Atonement means everything to me. I can be cleansed from my sins as I have a broken heart and am truly humble in seeking his forgiveness. Show more Show less
