Hi I'm John Morris

I attend Brigham Young University where I compete on the swim team. I love learning and I love the gospel. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was accepted into BYU in 2014, where I enrolled as a pre-Mechanical Engineering major. While at BYU I competed on the university swim team, scoring points that contributed to our 2015 MPSF conference championship. I love the competitive and rigorous aspects of swimming, as well as the amazing community. I've seen similar aspects of BYU, where I've enjoyed the academic and the religious. I received my mission call in 2015 to the Ghana Accra mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the church is true, because all the truth everywhere I've looked has found support in my own growth in understanding of this gospel. I am a Mormon because I have felt the Spirit of God. I have received confirmations of His presence, and of this gospel. I am a Mormon because living the complete principles of the church has blessed every area of my life. I am a Mormon because I find evidences of God's hand in my life in every thing that I do, everywhere that I go.

How I live my faith

Part of the doctrine of the church that appeals most strongly to me is the call to labor. As I have worked to fulfill callings, including preparing lessons and teaching my peers, I have grown in my own appreciation of the gospel. Working forces me to devote energy to spiritual things, and prioritize church above the rigors of academia, finance, and athletics. Working in the church also helps me grow spiritually, much like lifting weights helps an individual grow physically. My ability to discern truth, set goals, and feel the promptings of the Spirit have all increased as I have served. Additionally, I love to read the scriptures. I find that reading them leads me to a stronger testimony, spiritual insights, and invaluable knowledge of how to live my life not available anywhere else for me.
