Hi I'm Zac

I am from Northern Utah. I'm an Aggie. A missionary. & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Zac Merrill, I am currently serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in The Florida Tallahassee Mission or what some would call the "Deep South". It covers the Florida pan-handle, lower Alabama, south west Georgia and south east Mississippi. Before My mission I attend the one and only Utah State University Where I am pursuing a Business Administration & Business Marketing Degrees. I had the time of my life and didn't want to leave. I love to go outside and play with my family and friends or just about anyone who will join me in an adventure. I love the mountains of Northern Utah, especially when I can put my snowboard on and hit the slopes or hang up my hammock. I will also never deny sitting down and watching a movie, especially if it is a funny one. I am a talker and tend to be loud at some times.

Why I am a Mormon

The light of the Gospel has been around me for a majority of my life. I just didn't always see it. Many think since people are born in Utah they are automatically a Mormon, which is not true. I still had to choose, and find everything that the Savior taught out by myself. This took me sometime to do. I almost could say I was not looking for the Gospel and the Truth or anything that this church brings, because I knew I could always find it. But during my early teenage years I started taking seminary, which is a class during school about the Savior and the church. There I found a lot out for myself. I got an amazing Sunday school teacher that helped strengthen my testimony of this Gospel so much. This teacher and a few others helped me see what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) really does for my life. After this I started doing all this for ME. I am a Mormon because I want to be and because I know it is true. I want to help other people get that same feeling and that is why I am serving a mission. Then others can say their a Mormon and be proud to say it.

How I live my faith

Through out my life I have tried to live my faith everyday. Sometimes it is a lot harder then others. As a teenager growing up peer pressure was a big influence and always seemed to be there. I still managed to make it to church most Sundays and to my weekly activities the church held for the young men and women in the area. When I got to college I joined a Young Single Adult ward at Utah State and was given responsibilities there. Having the responsibility, still having church every week, and weekly events for the young adults in the area was my simple way of living my faith along with be obedient to God's commandments and will. While attending college I chose to put everything on hold and to serve a two year mission. This was defiantly a new way of showing my faith. Not knowing where I was going or what laid ahead I put everything aside (school, Family, work, friends, Etc.) and said I will go where you want me to go. I was sent to the Tallahassee Florida Mission in May of 2015 to teach people about the Church, and all the great things I had been taught through out my life. Also to teach myself more then I could ever imagine. I am still serving that mission right now and live my faith by going out everyday, find those that have never heard of "The Mormons" or that just simply want to know more, and teach them and help them gain a greater knowledge of Jesus Christ. All while what I left at home is in the hands of the Lord.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Zac
NO. That is the simplest way of putting it. We are led by the Savior, Jesus Christ example. He helped all, the hungry, the widow, the sinner and all those that came his way. We too try to help all those that we can. While serving my mission I have helped many other non-Mormon organizations, Religions, and random strangers with various things. Some scriptures that have influenced me in this is one from the Book of Mormon (which is a book of scriptures The Church of Latter-Day Saints believes to be the word of God and uses in alliance with the bible to study from) Mosiah 2:17 ..."when you are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of you God." Then one from the King James Holy Bible (which we also believe to be the word of God as long as translated correctly) in the book of Mark 9:40 "for he that is not against us is on our part" These passages of scripture have taught me to serve others, and that we are all on the same mission to develop faith in Jesus Christ. We as Mormons love to serve and serve all those around us. Show more Show less
