Hi I'm Haley Bertoldo

I'm a Colorado native, BYU swimmer, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a student at BYU studying Experience Design and Management in the Marriott School of Business. I grew up in Colorado, so I love hiking and being outdoors! I am a student-athlete on a swimming scholarship- I specialize in butterfly and backstroke! I grew up in a big family: I am the third out of 8 kids! I get a thrill from traveling and seeing new places. So far, I've been to Peru, Paris, Berlin, Leipzig, Heidelberg, Moscow, Puerto Rico, Manila, Cebu, Philippines, and many different states within the U.S. I hope to be able to travel a lot more in the future! When I'm not swimming I love playing volleyball, weightlifting, watching movies, service, and being with friends and family! I spent 18 months teaching the Gospel and serving in the Philippines Cebu East mission, where I learned to speak fluent Cebuano!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not simply because I grew up in the Church, but because I have been reading and studying and praying about the scriptures and the doctrines and principles of the Church my whole life. I have felt over and over again the confirmation that they are true. I am a Mormon because by living the standards and precepts taught in this church, I have grown closer to God, I have been strengthened and uplifted, and I have been guided toward personal peace and success in my honest endeavors. Anytime I have strayed from what the church teaches, I have felt distant from my Heavenly Father, which is not something I ever want to feel. No matter what things in life have mattered to me personally- my performance in swimming, my relationships with friends and family, or how I am doing in school- the doctrines taught in the gospel of Jesus Christ enlighten me and teach me how to best handle each new challenge. I know that this church is true; I know that it is the fully restored gospel on the earth today. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior- at times when I do not deserve forgiveness and love, I know that it is there for me anyway once I humble myself and allow the healing power of the Atonement to work in me. I know that by living the gospel, we invite the Holy Ghost to be with us to guide us and comfort us through the trials and challenges of life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church weekly and participating in church activities and responsibilities as much as I am able! I also live my faith by establishing the habit of personal scripture study and prayer as a daily effort to draw closer to God! I lived my faith by accepting the call to serve as a full time missionary in the Philippines Cebu East Mission. Serving a mission requires in-depth study of the gospel, living worthily, and letting the Spirit guide each decision. I am living my faith now by continuing to gain an education and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
