Hi I'm Kayla

I grew up in Colorado. I am very competitive. I love to be outdoors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a very adventurous girl. I love being outdoors and doing things like hiking, swimming, rock climbing, repelling, canoeing, white water rafting, almost anything outside. I am very competitive. I played competitive volleyball for a few years in high school and then had the opportunity to do some coaching after that. I come from a fairly small family of four. I have one older brother. He is the best brother that I could ever have and I don't know what I would do without him. I like writing and expressing myself through stories and just getting to create my own world through writing. Like anyone else I love to hang out with my friends and family, laugh a lot, and just have a great time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints but I went through a period of time where I was not sure that I wanted to be a member of this church. I stopped going to church and pretty much all church related functions and I went to a very dark place and life got even more challenging. I had some friends reach out to me and helped me come back to church. However, I decided that I did not want to be a part of this church just for the socialization so I took the time to finally do the things that I was taught. I started really praying and pouring my heart out the the Lord every night. I read the scripture looking for answers and learning from them not to just check something off of my list. I could feel Heavenly Father's love for me everyday. Learning about and understanding the atonement of Jesus Christ was huge for me. He provided opportunities for me to get back on the straight and narrow path and to find peace and happiness in the gospel. I'm a Mormon because I have felt Heavenly Father's love for me and I know that with God nothing is impossible. I'm a Mormon because I know in my heart that God has a plan for me and this is where he wants me.

How I live my faith

This church is a church of service. Service can sound overwhelming but it doesn't have to be. So I guess that I live my faith through small acts of service. Whether it is just texting someone and telling them that you were thinking about them, writing my mom an encouraging note, or simply asking if you can put someone's cart away at the grocery store. When I was in high school I had the opportunity to help plan a lot of our youth group activities and follow through with running a few of them. I also got to know some of the girls my age and I just tried to be there for them if they were ever going through a rough time or needed anything. I know I wasn't perfect at it but I tried my best. Also just not being afraid to say I am a Mormon is a way I live my faith. I try my best to dress modestly even though that isn't generally what's popular. I just try to do the things that Heavenly Father would want me to do even though that is not always easy.
