Hi I'm Sarah

I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Tucson, and Spokane. I am a ballet dancer and a sophomore in college. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my first year at college this year. I love math and am an Applied and Computational Mathematics major. I am a ballet dancer and have been dancing for 7 years now. I done everything from gymnastics to high school drill team to drama and musical theater. I also love playing the piano whenever I have some extra time. I am currently working as a dental assistant.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this church, but no matter who you are or what background you came from, wether you grew up in the church or you grew up in another faith and convert, everyone at some point needs to find out for themselves if they find the church to be true. You can only rely on other peoples' testimonies and beliefs for so long until you need to find out for yourself. I have never had a big moment where all of the sudden I knew the church was true. It has been little confirmations and moments in my every day where I thought, "How can this not be true?". Once I really decided for myself, my testimony has only grown. I think you need to act on faith before you get a confirmation of the truth. I know that God lives. I know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us and know us personally. They know what we are going through and feeling and experiencing, and they have a plan for us. I know that when we pray to them, they listen and answer our prayers, not in the way we may think or want, but they know what is best for us and will lead us in the right direction. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that he saw the Father and the Son and he translated the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and if you read it with a sincere and open heart you will find it to be true as well. I know that we have a prophet and apostles leading us today, who give us guidance and direction from our Heavenly Father. I know that this church has the proper authority from God to baptize and perform ordinances here on Earth. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church.

How I live my faith

When I was in my college ward I taught the lesson each week to the women in my ward, which really taught me how to teach in front of groups better and be able to get them to engage and participate. Since I've come back home for the summer, I get to play the piano for the little kids as we sing church songs. This August I am leaving to serve a full-time mission in Rancagua Chile. I will be there for 18 months. I am so excited for this opportunity to serve the Lord and serve the people of Chile.

What is being a Mormon like?

As a Mormon I think I am happy about life and the life I live. I think as Mormons we have a knowledge of what this life is about and what comes after this life. This knowledge allows us to be optimistic because we know that we don't disappear when we die. We will continue on after we die, and the kind of life we live here on Earth will determine what the rest of our eternity will be like. We also know that we can be with our families forever, so when a family member dies we know we will see them again, which is a reason for celebration. We know we have a Father in Heaven who is looking out for and watching over us and will never leave us alone. When life gets hard and we feel depressed, we always have someone to turn to. We also know that as we serve other people, we not only make the people we serve happy, we also feel happy. These things make me happy and give me a love for life. Show more Show less
