Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Utah, I am serving a mission in Guatemala. I'm a mormon

About Me

I am a member who was born into the church. I love to play basketball and run. I am currently in my junior year in high school. My favorite class is early morning seminary. I love to do service and meet new people. I am the second oldest of the nine children in my family which can sometimes be quite crazy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon not only because my family is and I was born into the church, but also because the Spirit testified to me that this is the only church with all the truth. I know that in our dispensation Joseph Smith was the prophet of the Restoration, that Jesus Christ atoned for all of our sins, through him we may return to live with God for eternity. I know that he lives and loves us, I have felt it in times of need. I know that families can be forever, and that if we are faithful we will live with God forever.

How I live my faith

Soon I will be leaving to serve a mission in Guatemala. I have been wanting to serve a mission my whole life. I am so excited to be able to share the truths and joy that come from the knowledge of the gospel with others. I read my scriptures every day because there is always so much more for all of us to learn from the writings of the prophets of old. In addition to the bible we have some other scripture that we believe to be the word of God. These books are, The Book of Mormon (a record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas), the Doctrine of covenants (a collection of divine revelations given and inspired declarations given for the estabalishment and regulation of the kingdom of God on the earth in the last days), and the Pearl of great price. Before I go to bed every other night I am so excited to go to seminary and learn more about the gospel. I try to grow my testimony every day and live the gospel by example. I am on the youth council which is a young man and a young woman from each ward in the stake on a council to plan activities and help represent all the youth in the stake. A ward is a area in which several members live and have a bishop to preside over them, a stake is made up of several wards and is led by a stake presidency, which consists of a stake president, his two councillors and his secretary. I love everything to do with this church and know that it is true.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Jared
Families provide a place where each of can learn and grow. God intended each of our families to be a place for us to be able to learn from each other, and taught in our youth by those who have experience on earth. Families help us get through difficult challenges, and bring us much joy and satisfaction. They will be there for us when we need someone to look to, when we need to be loved. The family is the central unit of society, a place where children can be born into and loved, provided for and taught truth and righteousness. Show more Show less
