Hi I'm Dan McRae

I was born in New York,USA. I am a long time Mormon. My ancestors joined the church in the 1830's and came to Utah in the 1850's.

About Me

I am recently retired and have been called on a Mission to the Wyoming Mormon Trails Mission. I am very excited to be able to do this since several of my ancestors came across the plains in the 1850's. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing and camping. I enjoy working on and restoring older automobiles. I also enjoyed playing various sports when I was younger. I especially enjoyed fast pitch softball and spent over 30 years playing in city leagues as a pitcher. I have a wife and four children. We have been married for 45 years. We have lived in various parts of the United States. We have lived in Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, North Carolina and New York.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though my family have been Mormons since the start of the church, I had to get a testimony for my self. When I was 16 I prayed to find out if the Book of Mormon was true. I received an answer to that prayer that I could not deny. It wasn't a revelation but a very strong feeling that has stayed with me all of these years. I served a mission to Germany for 2 1/2 years and was able to see how the Gospel changed peoples lives when they allowed it to. My favorite part of the gospel is the Atonement. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died for our sins and has made it possible to be forgiven and return to Him. The gospel helps me understand where I came from, why I am here and what is going to happen after I die. It gives me confidence and hope for the future.

How I live my faith

I have been actively engaged in our church activities all of my life. Mu first calling in our church was when I was 16. I was asked to teach a group of 11 year old scouts. I have enjoyed working with the youth and adults. For several years I was the Bishop of a small congregation (Ward) in Indiana. I have also had the opportunity to be responsible for planning activities such as dances, plays and sporting events for large groups of church members. I have also had the opportunity to be involved in community affairs. My wife and I were co-presidents of our local elementary school. I was also involved in helping to plan a local parade each summer.
