Hi I'm Shannon

I graduated from Southern Utah University. I have enjoyed being a competitive swimmer for about 10 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from Southern Utah University (SUU) May 2014 with Magna Cum Laude and University Honors. I completed undergrad research with the Nutrition Department where the abstract has been published in the Supplement to the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I participated in the study abroad program, Family Life and Nutrition in Japan for the Summer 2013 semester. I enjoy running. So far, I’ve completed six 5Ks (3.2 miles), two half marathons (13.1 miles), and two triathlons. I have also enjoyed being an USA Swimming Competitive Swimmer (June 2000-August 2010).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel it has become integrated in my life and is a big part of who I am. Without it, there would be something missing. There is real power and real healing that can happen through the atonement of Christ. I can feel peace and be comforted. I know this gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I go to the LDS church on Sundays, I try to make an effort being there every Sunday. I learn so much when I'm there and can feel Heavenly Father's love for me and others. I also make friends while I'm there, and enjoy participating and helping to build up unity in the ward. I've had the opportunity to volunteer or hold callings as a pianist and teacher in the church's organization for women. These two callings were a little more difficult or scary for me at first, but I found that I grew in talents I didn't know I had.
